FLDOE ConsultantThe Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) retains a consultant for school psychology that serves as a non-elected member of the FASP Executive Board. Anna Williams-Jones, FLDOE ConsultantThe School Psychology Consultant acts as a liaison between the Florida Department of Education and the FASP Board on school psychology related issues by providing technical assistance in matters related to federal and state laws and regulations and DOE policies and initiatives affecting the practice of school psychology. The position is funded by the Department of Education through the Student Support Services Project based in Tallahassee, Florida. The current consultant received his Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Wheeler is a DOE certified and a licensed school psychologist and who has been employed as a school psychologist in Florida since 1989. Prior to joining the Student Support Services Team, he worked in Pinellas and Manatee counties as a bilingual school psychologist. Dr. Wheeler has been involved in district-level leadership activities including implementing a Response to Intervention pilot, developing an automated IEP system, supervising school psychology interns, providing staff development and training, and participating on district-level policy teams.
